8th Grade Participates in Mock Trial for Law Day
For the second year in a row Brook Hill 8th graders were invited to take part in Law Day activities held during the first week of May and sponsored by the Smith County Bar Foundations. Ruth Yeager, Assistant United States Attorney, coordinates the event which takes place at the U.S. District Courthouse in Tyler. Brook Hill students were joined by students from Gorman as they participated in a courthouse tour which included involvement in a mock trial. In thinking about the day’s event, 8th grader Rachel Berkley commented, “The trip was an insightful experience for when we students, in just a few years, will be real jurors deciding another person’s fate.”
The Tyler Paper did a great story on the event. You can read it here: http://www.tylerpaper.com/TP-News+Local/235222/brook-hill-and-gorman-students-participate-in-mock-trial-at-federal-courthouse
